Extraordinary growth requires
extraordinary people

Tzohar Halev is incredibly fortunate to grow under the direction of incredible people who lead, teach, and inspire.

Rabbi Israel Kurnik

Rabbi Israel Kurnik

Director

In 1989, a group of parents approached Israel to revive a failing school that catered to children with disabilities. He took on the challenge–and had enormous success. Within months, parents of children with disabilities from across the state begged him to open schools in their neighborhoods. There was a serious need for specialized education–and Israel filled that need, starting schools that would serve children across different regions from the ground up.

Today, Israel is incredibly proud of his work, which numbers 39 schools and centers, and about 1400 students and alumni in the outlying cities: Rechasim, Ashdod, Beit Shemesh, Gan Yavneh, Beitar Ilit, Haifa, Moatza Ezorit Zevulun, Kiryat Ata, Tzfat, and Lod. But that pride is coupled with a sense of duty, and a vision of the work that lies ahead of him.

From our school principals to entry-level employees, the Tzohar Halev staff is drawn to and inspired by his leadership and vision. Together, their sense of mission generates dreams that come true.

Yossi Bar

Yossi Bar

Finance Director

In 1998, Yossi Bar was an 18-year-old Yeshiva boy who came to Tzohar Halev as a young, enthusiastic volunteer, specializing in computers. Rabbi Kurnik identified Yossi’s personal and professional capabilities and took him under his wing. Yossi’s volunteer work paved the way for a partnership that became an extraordinary success. Today, Israel and Yossi manage Tzohar Halev together.

After they married, Yossi and his wife Rivky tried for ten years to bring children into the world, without success. So the couple decided to adopt Tamar, an adorable little girl with Down’s Syndrome. Several years later, they adopted another child with Down’s Syndrome. Today, Yossi and his wife are loving parents, with all their heart, body and soul.

This “love story” surrounding Tzohar Halev reflects Yossi’s dedicated day-to-day work.

Rabbi Moshe Zeibart

Rabbi Moshe Zeibart

Director of the Ashdod Center

As deputy director and manager of Tzohar Halev’s Ashdod institutions, Moshe invests every possible effort to develop comprehensive, high-quality resources for the special-needs population. This philosophy is expressed in the network’s carefully selected staff. This extraordinary staff allows every one of the students who study at the Tzohar Halev schools to achieve his or her personal excellence. Moshe believes that his success is the success of the educational staff. It is thanks to them that we can do the kind of work that, at the end of the day, earns appreciation and gratitude for each positive step forward that the students take and progress, and for the substantial care they receive.

Moshe’s senior certification in the field of special education, as well as a degree in management, marketing, and organizational advisement from Tel Aviv University, enable him to make the most of his mission and to draw the very best from the highly-qualified staff with whom he works. Moshe is a native and resident of Ashdod, father to seven beloved children.
